
Kevin Oakeson
Kevin G. Oakeson started his career with Cirque du Soleil in 2006 as the assistant head of lighting on Zumanity at the New York, New York Hotel and Casino. In 2013 he was transplanted to Michael Jackson ONE in the same position for the creation of the show. In conjunction with the head of lighting, Kevin oversaw the installation of David Finn’s lighting design through the initial creation. Now in operations, he’s responsible for maintaining the integrity of the original design.
Before joining Cirque du Soleil, Kevin worked for the Walt Disney Studios as lighting coordinator for Buena Vista Special Events and as lighting director for the El Capitan Theatre and Entertainment Center. Between Disney projects he was a lighting supervisor at the Santa Fe Opera for three seasons. He has dabbled in architectural lighting for Macy*s and spent some time in higher education. Kevin was a sabbatical replacement assistant professor of lighting design, and an instructor of lighting technology at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music.
Kevin earned a B.F.A. in Theatre Design/Technology from the University of Utah, and an M.F.A. in Lighting Design from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music.
