Associate Lighting Director
Roya, born in Seattle, WA, is a New York based lighting designer and programmer. She has been the Associate Lighting Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater since 2011. In that time she has had the honor of recreating the lighting for the Ailey company all over North America as well as 12 other countries including South Africa, Israel, Argentina, and Denmark. In addition, Roya is in her 7th year as a member of Arc3design. As Senior Lighting Designer, Roya finds creative design solutions for everything from corporate events and private parties to concerts and architecture, integrating a theatrical aesthetic into the world of events. This work has taken her to the White House for State Dinners and Madison Square Garden, programming for the Knicks and Rangers. She has also had the pleasure of working with Haiti’s Ayikodans and the Limón Dance Company. Roya holds a BFA from the North Carolina School of the Arts
