$425 ($525 after 9/14) includes lunch Core training for TD’s, the second annual Technical Director Boot Camp combines of four different sessions in a full-day of training that will prepare anyone for the duties and responsibilities as a technical director. Whether you’re curious to start as a TD, or interested in brushing up on some advanced techniques, this special workshop will benefit technical directors of all levels.  Session highlights: Session One: Excel at Excel! The Basics of Spreadsheet Use for the Technical Director 1) Learn effective strategies for designing spreadsheets for tracking resources 2) Master the mystery of dates and times, three-dimensional calculation planning, forcing consistent data entry, and conditional formatting. Bring your laptop! 3) Function more effectively in Microsoft Excel; 4) Move data three-dimensionally through a spreadsheet 5) Design an effective Excel spreadsheet to assist with everyday applications. Session Two: Simple Translation! Making Things Go Back and Forth 1) Explore the basic problem-solving process for technical elements of a production that move horizontally, such as wagons, slip stages and turntables; 2) Analyze the motion profile of a given situation 3) Devise a minimum of three, rational solution sets that would provide the necessary motion. Session Three: Oh Snap! The Basics of AutoCAD Use for the Technical Director 1) Effective strategies for using AutoCAD for solving common problems that many TDs face on a regular basis.  2) Function more effectively in AutoCAD 3) Draw lines, circles, and arcs with greater efficiency 4) Improve use of edit commands to create desired objects. Session Four: An Uplifting Experience! Making Things Go Up and Down 1) Explore the basic problem-solving process for technical elements of a production that do not move horizontally, such as elevators and fly systems (we’ll cover the basics, and then explore situations brought by workshop participants) 2) Learn to analyze the motion profile of a given situation 3) Devise a minimum of three, rational solution sets that would provide the necessary motion.
